While acknowledging that we can’t judge books by their covers, how much does the design of a book affect your reading enjoyment? Hardcover vs. softcover? Trade paperback vs. mass market paperback? Font? Illustrations? Etc.?
I am definitely guilty of choosing a book by its cover! But usually only if I am browsing shelves and shelves of books at the library or book store. Lets face it, something needs to catch my eye! I like cute, colorful or unique covers. I must say that it doesn't necessarily affect my enjoyment, it just aids me in choosing. Also, I read many books based on recommendations, either from friends or from different publications, and these also help me choose my books--and in that case, the cover doesn't play into it all. Same goes for favorite authors--if they are already proven favorites of mine the cover really doesn't matter to me.
I really enjoy the experience of reading a hardcover, but that isn't always practical and I certainly can't afford to purchase all hardcovers! There are several authors who I am devoted to which beckon me to buy their new releases each time in hardcover. Otherwise, I do like trade paperbacks (the larger ones) better than mass market. With my eyes getting old, large print is nice sometimes too, but I don't read many of those, yet!
Here are a couple of *next ups* to be read! See the nice bright covers?!

Fun, so glad you played along too this week! I'm that way too. And you've definitely got some great covers coming up! I've read "Remember Me" recently and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I flew threw that one, it was a really quick and fun read for me.
Hope you feel better soon, and happy reading!!!!
I have been disappointed with covers. I like uncluttered ones!
Booking through cover
I love "cover art." It gets me on CDs too.
