Weekly Geeks: Family Reading Time

Dewey, the hostess of Weekly Geeks asks us to post book photo tours of our own this week. Many of us have already posted photos of bookshelves, so here are some other ideas for photo tours. We can post just one, or many.

*Bookshelves, of course.
*TBR piles.
*Your favorite places to read in your house or apartment.
*Other favorite places to read: coffee shop? library? park? secret hiding place at work?
*Your book group: faces, places, books you’ve read for it.
*Collages: books you’ve read or plan to read, or just your librarything collage.
*Your kids reading in their favorite places.

If you want to see my ridiculous piles of books, then click here....in that post you will not only see my books, but you will see a picture of my new favorite spot to read, in our newly remodeled bedroom!

Instead I have had a jolly good time scrolling through time--back to 2005 (when we started digital picture taking in earnst) and picked out some pictures of my family reading.

There is a precious picture of my now married daughter (coming up on 2 years this month!) reading on the floor with her little brother, taken the last year she lived at home-- The year before her wedding, which was also her first year of grad school. There is another one of her with her feet up in front of the fireplace reading with her other little brother, now 16, cozied up. In front of a fire was always one of her favorite spots to read.

Our bed has been a favorite spot over the years also--as evidenced by Austen devouring the last Harry Potter book the morning after the release party at Border's Books.

Don't even ask me how my husband could read like this, but he does! One of our boys snapped this picture one Sunday afternoon, a couple of years ago. :)

Sam, my youngest and Sarah, my only girl and the oldest, have always been my two biggest readers. Here are a couple pics of Sam from over the years....

What would vacation be, without a little break in the water fun with some reading?!

My second favorite spot to read, after my little nook in my bedroom:

A picture mosaic I made a couple of months ago of books and reading:

We are also supposed to link up to some other participants entries--so here I go...

Kerry from Saving my Sanity has some incredible shelves of books!

Restless Reader had some fun pictures and takes on the theme this week!

Naida from The Bookworm also has a fun post and I love her little crochet cup cozy!

I love your post! It reminded me of my family, we were all readers too. And I have no idea how your husband can read that way either! (i loved looking at your stacks of books too)

What a wonderful post. I just loved all the pictures of your family reading, especially your husband hanging over the edge of the bed! You should be very proud of raising a family of readers.

I am delighted that my son insists on reading a book after story time and before the light gets turned off. Especially since he's four and can't actually read yet!

Great post! Love the pictures. I guess I should pay attention to when my family is reading and snap a picture of them now and then!

Gotta love a family of readers! How long can your husband read like that!?! I enjoyed reading and browsing through this post, Kim. :)

I absolutely love your photos! My family are all readers also. Even though reading is a solitary hobby, it can create such great discussions.
