Weekly Geeks: mystery book covers

It is Saturday, and time for Weekly Geeks. Here is what Dewey has called us to do this week:

Take close-up photos of book covers and see if our readers can guess which books they are.

How to:

1. Take one or more (as many as you like!) close up photos of book covers.

* You could make this harder for your readers by posting covers specific to your country, posting older covers of classics, etc.

* You could make it easier for your readers by limiting your photos to books you’ve mentioned recently, so that your blog readers will already have seen the covers.

* You could also make it easier by posting some cover close-ups and a list of correct titles, asking your readers to match titles to books.

2. Decide on how you want to run your guessing game. Do you want to give prizes? Do you want to announce the correct answer as soon as someone guesses it? Do you want to post photos only of books you want to give away, and give the books to the correct guessers? Organize it any way you want!

These following covers are from books that I have mentioned here on my blog in the last 2 months--all except #3. I am thinking maybe that one has never been mentioned!! That is the only clue I am giving and the first person to guess the first one correctly, title and author, will win the copy of that one if they want it! The rest I am posting for fun--they are not for giving away!

1.

(A Tree Grows In Brooklyn)

2.

(This is the same book as #1, it is just an older copy--(first edition to be exact)

3.
I just finished this one, but haven't written much about it-so it is probably the hardest one on my list!

(Summer Crossing)

4.
On my to be read pile

(Love Walked In)

5.
This one will satisfy a book choice for one of my challenges

(Oscar and Lucinda)

6.
Another one found on my to be read pile

(The Used World)

  1. I know #1! but since I've read it I won't guess because I don't want to win it. But I so know it.

  4. #6 is The Used World, not sure of the author but I'm pretty sure it's the same person who wrote A Girl Named Zippy.

  7. I know #1 but like raidergirl I won't guess because I already own a copy. I also own another great old edition by the same author. I guessed #6 too but didn't know the others.

  8. I am resisting the temptation to cheat by emailing raidergirl13 to see if she'd tell me number one! :) I don't know any of the other, but like Ali, I at first thought one was The Time-Traveler's Wife.
