Yes....challenges are being lined up for 2009. This one actually starts this November so I don't feel too bad writing about already!! I have listed several new ones for '09 at the bottom of my sidebar. I haven't officially signed up for all of them yet--still waiting to see what all comes out still....
But, this genre challenge embodies what I hope some challenges will do for me...that is to challenge me to read outside of my comfort genre.
It is being hosted by Samantha and she gives several different options to choose from.
I will be choosing option A: read 10 genres, drop one of your own choosing and the one you read the most. I will be dropping Crime Fiction as I just can't make myself read that genre--I abhor it-- and I am dropping the one I read the most, Realistic Fiction.
Here are my picks:
Western: The Chili Queen by Sandra Dallas
Mystery: Among the Mad by Jacqueline Winspear-finished
Detective: The Big Over Easy by Jasper Fforde
Historical: Sarah's Key by Tatiana de Rosnay-finished
Science Fiction: The Road by Cormac McCarthy-finished
Romantic: Heart and Soul by Maeve Binchy-finished
Horror: Jane Emily by Patricia Clapp-finished
**Thriller: Misery by Stephen King-finished
Action/Adventure: The Mosquito Coast by : Paul Theroux
Fantasy: The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman-finished
** I am embarrassed to admit that I have never read a King book!
