First Sentence: "At Windsor it was the evening of the state banquet and as the president of France took his place beside Her Majesty, the royal family formed up behind and the procession slowly moved off and through into the Waterloo Chamber."



Last Sentence: "...why do you think you're all here?"


Delightful and fanciful and yet serious as the Queen of England's world view changes through her new obsession with reading. The reactions of her staff and nation at large made me laugh. Bennett has created a very clever novella with a very surprising ending.

I definitely recommend this little gem to all looking for a quick little read which packs a punch!
