Monday Stuff

What's In Your Mailbox Monday is hosted each week by Marcia over at The Printed Page.
I have not participated in my Monday memes since the end of August! Guess it is time to play along again. The books which entered my house this week did not arrive in the mail--I have slowed that flow down a bit due to the lack of space in my house...(according to my husband!)

**click the book for a description**

But I did purchase 2 books at Target-both of which I have had my eye on for quite some time!

Then I found 3 books at my library--2 knitting pattern books which have me drooling and wishing my knitting skills were a bit more advanced--and 1 book that I have seen making the rounds on some blogs I follow.

Musing Mondays is hosted each week by Rebecca at Just One More Page.

Today’s MUSING MONDAYS post is all about the upcoming Read-a-Thon. Rebecca asks us if we are participating or not.
My answer? YES!!! Not that I am excited or anything! I was sick with bronchitis during the last read-a-thon event but I gave it the old college try and still managed to have a blast. Whether I really can let myself go 24 hours remains to be seen as I do have to work on Monday and if I am behind on sleep, I never catch up all week.
I am planning perusing my shelves here shortly to start putting my book pile together.

My tips?
Have a variety of books genres available to you.
Have some short books in your stack.
Vary your reading location.
Snacks! Very important.
And lots of yummy things to drink
Take breaks, and have fun participating in the mini challenges.

Most of all--just plain have fun!

  4. I'm not participating in the read-a-thon this year. I just have too many things going on, but I wish you much good luck with it!

  5. Well, she doesn't know it yet, but my eldest daughter is going to receive several knitting supplies this Christmas. I am hoping that she will teach herself to knit (she has expressed an interest in the past) and then teach me :)

I LOVED The Sister (although the moth information was a bit much for me). I hope you enjoy it as well.

I hope you can get lots of rest this week - and stay well - so that we can enjoy the read-a-thon together!

  6. I've had my eye on The Sister too, but so far, I've managed to be strong. I don't think that's going to last too much longer, though.

  10. I've seen Of Bees and Mist and want to read it also.

I'm joining in on the read-a-thon also. I know I won't spend the whole 24 hours reading (I have to sleep or I get sick) but I will enjoy the time I spend doing the read-a-thon!

  11. Ohhh - I'm really curious how you like Simple Knits for Cherished Babies! I love to crochet and knit, and have a little one due in February. . . I might just have time to make something from this book. :)

  17. I came so close to buying The Invisible Wall today. I had a gift card, so I could only choose a could of books. That one was in and out of my cart several times, but I decided to go with a couple of other books. Maybe next time. I'll be curious to see what you think of it.
