My most fun news, besides the fact that we just found out grand-baby #2 is really going to be another grand-girl, is that I received a Kindle for Christmas!! I am in love with it and have already downloaded 9 free books so far. Right now, free is all I am allowed to do, until the dust of Christmas expenditures settles. Two years ago I would not have believed you if you had not only told me I would own one of these but that I would enjoy it so much!

So, all you Kindle users out there, tell me your tips, the free things you have (that might still be free), and all the things you love about your Kindle! Oh, I did download a game, Every Word, and I have subscribed to a blog for 99 cents a month--it is called Free Kindle Books Plus a Few Other Tips.
My three most anticipated downloaded reads are:
- 1. Heidegger's Glasses by Thais Frank
- 2. Sweetie by Kathryn Magendie
- 3. Mossy Creek by Deborah Smith
So fire away and help this Kindle newbie!
I love everything about my Kindle! I do still buy regular books, especially if they are by beloved authors, or have amazing covers. I love how much space I save by having books store on my Kindle rather than on my long suffering book shelves. I love that new, free books are offered all the time. I love the games! I also like being able to download books from Netgalley on my Kindle, so much better than reading on the computer. I also take my Kindle everywhere I go (totally invest in a good cover to keep it safe). Christmas shopping is a lot less stressful when I can whip out my Kindle and read it while stuck in long, slow moving lines. :) Enjoy your Kindle!
ReplyDeleteOoh, a Kindle for Christmas, that's awesome! I got a Wi-Fi one a couple of months ago for my birthday. I also LOVE mine! I didn't think that I would love it this much, but I really do :) I have only bought two books, both under $3 each! I mostly download free books and read them on there. I also have a few of the games, but don't play them often.
ReplyDeleteI hate to hear that you paid for a service to find free books, can you cancel that? I subscribe to a blog through my GoogleReader, free, that tells you about every new book that is offered for free on Kindle (and it also lists Sony, Nook, etc). It's called Books on the Knob or something like that, and I just read it in my google reader. I check most every day for new, free books. I read mostly Christian fiction, and I've been really pleasantly surprised at how many free ones are offered!
Since I bought the Wi-Fi one and not the 3G, I just stay prepared. I also take mine with me when I go run errands, to the doctor or dentist, or out of town. I just make sure I've already downloaded the book I am reading or plan to read, and then it's there, whether there's wi-fi available or not. I love it!
Hope your family had a wonderful, blessed Christmas and you have a very happy new year ahead! Another grandbaby is wonderful news!!!
it does seem like magic. I've had my kindle for 15 months and I am still loving it. I love the variety of books available to me. Things were pretty limited pre kindle. I love the free books too. I keep a close watch on the blog watching for freebies and specials. I've picked up some great books. Soduko was free last month.
