Well hello Spring...and Spring Reading Thing...
and let's not forget Carl's annual Once Upon a Time Challenge!!
I almost missed this one, and even though I failed miserably last year with it, I am going to give it a shot again this year. I mean, come on, who doesn't love those words, "Once upon a time..."and the story that accompanies them??
Not only are the genre and the challenge itself great fun, but the artwork....oh the artwork....
Stunning!

I will be participating at the Quest the First Level
Read at least 5 books that fit somewhere within the Once Upon a Time criteria. They might all be fantasy, or folklore, or fairy tales, or mythology…or your five books might be a combination from the four genres. Here are the books I am choosing from:
- Princess of the Midnight Ball by Jessica Day George
- The Night Fairy by Laura Amy Schlitz
- Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen-finished
- Once Upon a Marigold by Jean Ferris---finished
- I, Coriander by Sally Gardner
- Except the Queen by Jane Yolen
- Rapunzel's Revenge by Shannon Hale
- The Book of a Thousand Days

Garden Spells is amazing! :-) i'm quite excited about this :-)
ReplyDeleteYou've got two of my favorite authors on your challenge list - Sarah Addison Allen and Shannon Hale! Garden Spells is wonderful and Hale has some really great books out there. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteGarden Spells, Rapunzel's Revenge, and Princess of the Midnight Ball were really good. I have also read The Night Fairy, but while I didn't hate it, it didn't leave a lasting impression. Hope it is different for you!
ReplyDeleteI am thinking about reading Garden Spells myself. It sounds like a wonderful book.
ReplyDeleteGlad you didn't miss out on it this year. Best of luck, but remember, there is no failing with this one as long as you follow Rule #1: Have fun!
I have a Shannon Hale on my list too. This will be the first time reading anything from her for me.
ReplyDeleteOnce Upon a Marigold is one of my favorite "new" fairytales! The sequel is pretty good too :o) They're fun and light-hearted, but not just fluff and sunshine. LOVE them!
