From me:
I first discovered Sarah Addison Allen last year when I read her Garden Secrets. I enjoyed that one as well as this latest offering. Southern Lit fascinates me as it embodies a way of life very foreign to the one I grew up in--being a Pacific Northwest girl like I am.
In Allen's boosk we are graced with all things southern--the charm, the history, the women's societies, the debutantes, the maternal expectations, the slow pace of life, and the warmth of down home hospitality. We are given richly drawn characters-- both men and women. Add all that together and through in a little whimsical magic and you have an extremely engaging read!

I really like Sarah Addison Allen's books, but this is probably my least favourite.
ReplyDeleteSo enticing, Kim!
ReplyDeleteI love southern charm; I hope to visit a real plantation one day.
I read it earlier this year - I really liked it!
ReplyDeleteI read this last year and still haven't gotten around to reviewing it. Can you believe it? I enjoyed it and I'm glad you did as well.
