Year of Projects: long overdue update

Hello lovelies--
I am writing to you from sunny beautiful Yakima where we have been attending Sam's State solo competition and visiting again with my sweeties.  I was thinking I had better get busy and get an update because I have missed a couple of weeks--and imagine my surprise when I realized I have not done an official update for all of April!
Before I share photos of my recently finished object, I think I will collect my scattered knitting thoughts first--
My works in progress still consist of my charity baby blanket and my Esprit Folk vest for Adelaide.  I am making slow and steady progress on them both, but got a little sidetracked with the baby hat I finished this weekend.
I failed miserable at Knitting and Crochet Blog Week--only managing to post twice out of the seven days, but I high hopes for next year if the event happens again. I did enjoy reading many blogs of people who did participate-knitters are just nice supportive folks!

I am hoping to participate in Milo May, hosted by Georgie Hallam, aka Tikki on Ravelry. I love this little vest pattern-it is so easy and seamless to boot!  My Grandys look adorable in them and they knit up so fast.  I better get my yarn ordered as I plan to order it through Fancy Image Yarn.

My finished project to share is my baby hat knit up for my neighbor's baby, Lucille Aster.
I used Ginny's pattern, found here.  This is proof that magic loop can be done on a 12" cable!  I am thinking about knitting a little white flower to plop on top of it, but am still on the fence about it

Until next time,
*smiles*

  1. Yakima looks lovely on the tourist sites! Enjoy! Cute little hat; these days the little ones definitely need to keep their heads covered when out of doors, don't they? I like the idea of a little flower adornment. Why not try it? You don't have to affix it if you don't like it, right?

  2. Personally, I think the pink hat is enough...but I'm not one for flowers on hats (or headbands or anything like that).

Of course, I'm not above making a Daisy Hat....not that I have (yet).

  3. Cute hat, sounds like you're having a great time with your visit. I agree with Renee, I'm not much into garnishes either. The hat is pretty and the pattern is quite nice.
