Year of Projects: week 2

It is fiber Sunday here in my corner of the world and time for my Year of Projects update.  A big hello to my friends from last year's project and to you who might be new to my blog.  I am glad you stopped by!

I have lots to share today---now that I have some smooth jazz playing, a diet coke by my side I think I am all set to pull a post together.

First of all, I have a finished object!!

I really needed to get this little Owlie Sack finished before Ravellenics and I have succeeded!  Now I need to start the little hat to go with it--the hat should be a piece of cake and I plan to cast on as soon as this update is completed.  Note: when I knit this again, I will knit it a little longer as it seems a little short to me.

Next up is the beginnings of my 5th and last dishcloth for my August swap.

I am loving each one I have finished and think it will be hard to send them off. :)  This one will be so bright and summery when completed----for the middle where I do two repeats of the pattern in a different color will be white in this one.

A couple of years ago, when I started looking at dishcloth groups to join there was a big public sadness amongst  dishcloth knitters as Walmart was going to no longer carry the Peaches & Cream cotton--apparently, it is a softer cotton yarn than Lily's Sugar and Cream, which is all I had ever used.  But lo and behold, guess what my Walmart is carrying?  Yup! Peaches and Cream.

I picked  up 3 skeins today while my husband was returning something in a different department.  The funny thing was, he had planned to go to Walmart right after church, but hadn't told me. I was distressed that I would have to wait in the car without my knitting or a book--I just wasn't interested in aimlessly wandering the store....but he reminded me that there was yarn in there--just call him my enabler! :)   I am anxious to try this to see if it is easier on the hands to work with.  My other place I would like to get some cotton yarn from is Knit Picks.

Here is a random photo I am sharing of my hydrangeas which are just starting to bloom-I look forward to them every summer.

And last but not least--here is a teaser photo of a project I am starting which is not on my list....yet...

I  have a post ready to go tomorrow all about it and it is a fun one!!!

Well folks, I think that is all the yarny news I have for today. I will be off to visit everyone else later today.
*smiles*

I just got some of the "Dishie" yarn from KnitPicks and I adore that stuff almost as much as I adore Hobby Lobby's cotton. Glad your Wal-Mart started carrying the Peaches n Creme again, I like the colors you picked out :)

  6. The owlie sack is soooo cute, I do like the detail, I've often looked at the jumper with the detail around the neck. Love the colours in your new cotton, especially the red, blu and White, a while ago, I saw yarn in this colour way, and I have so kicked myself since, that I didn't buy it....typical eh!

I have hydrangeas, but mine are all pink, different soil isn't it?

Looking forward to seeing what your new project is....have a great week.x

  7. Oh Kim that owlie sack is so gorgeous, I had looked at it and now seeing yours I might just go back and add it to my list. Love the yarn and I've tried Sugar n cream so I'll be interested to hear if the peaches is any softer, I have found a site over here that sells the sugar n cream. I to have my eye on knit picks yarn and think I've found somewhere over here that sells it but I need to look through their weights to see what I want. I'll be tuning in to see what your next project is going to be, sounds interesting. Thank you very much for your comments this week on my blog they meant a lot and I felt you understood exactly where I was coming from with the surprise lol. I do feel very blessed to be expecting again and over here we have a saying that The Lord never sends what you can't cope with.
